About this Free Skirt Pattern

The Trapezoid Skirt tutorial is a basic elasticated skirt that is the perfect addition to anyone’s wardrobe. Cut from only two pieces of fabric, it’s perfect for your favorite woven fabric. Make one in a soft cotton, bright linen, or that bedsheet you found at your local thrift store!

This tutorial is suited for all levels of sewists and is a great beginner-friendly project! The pattern is based on your measurements, so there’s no need to cut any PDF pattern.

You can either finish the seams with an overlocker/serger or French Seams for a clean look that will last.

It’s a great wardrobe staple for all year long. You can sew it up in a floral cotton for summer or a linen for the cooler months. The possibilities are endless. ✨

Why I love This Pick

I haven’t made this pattern yet, but I’m a girl who loves basic skirts. This looks like a project you could quickly sew up in an evening or weekend afternoon if you’ve got that fabric in your stash that you’ve been holding on to for a special project. I’m already thinking of making one with some fall linen I have in my stash!

This pattern is perfect for beginners who are looking to make their first project or an advanced sewist wanting a quick and refreshing wardrobe staple. I love the idea of a set-in waistband so that there’s no fussing around with attaching it. Just insert the elastic and voila! No bothering with gathering here

While this skirt tutorial does not include instructions for pockets, you can certainly add them in!

  • May snapshots 📸🌸

The month of May has been a bit of a whirlwind. I’ve been making quilts, getting outside, wearing many of my memade skirts and dresses, and thanking God for an answered prayer that we didn’t even anticipate when the month started.

  • The Moonlight Dress by @sustainably.gabrielle is finally here. ✨

What a labor of love for this pattern. You can tell that Gabrielle’s attention to fit is so clear in this design. It’s so flattering on so many body types yet there’s room to move.

For my version during the pattern test, I added 2cm to the neckline for a little more coverage and spaced the buttons 4cm apart.

I love the waist tie for a cinched waist but could see myself making this dress in another version with a more relaxe...

  • There’s nothing quite like a classic star block quilt. ⭐️

I had the wonderful opportunity to test the new Louis Quilt Pattern for @summerflora.co . It’s an easy beginner pattern is perfect for those wanting to dip their feet into the world of quilting. It comes in 3 sizes and I know I’ll be making many more iterations of this pattern.

I made this entirely from scraps in my stash. The green fabric is a gingham from @linenlab.co.kr and the white is from a thrifted cotton duvet cover. I decid...
