Tilda Blouse – Maison Fauve

About this Free Blouse Pattern
The Tilda Blouse is a French and English pattern for a blouse that is simple, yet elevated with classic, feminine details. There are two possible sleeve lengths making it an instant staple in your pattern collection. The full-length sleeves have pleats just above the cuff, creating that elevated look perfect for a more formal blouse.
This pattern is suited for intermediate-level sewists. It’s advised that you know how to create pintucks, but if you’ve never sewn this element before, this would be the perfect project to try! Seamwork has published a video explaining pintucks/pleats and how to sew them with confidence.
It’s a great pattern for that heirloom embroidered fabric you’ve been holding on to, or for a more flowy viscose or silk if you’re looking for a more elevated look.

Why I love This Pick
I haven’t made this pattern yet, but I’m a sucker for delicate, yet feminine design elements. The pintucks and high neck line add so much to this blouse without it being over the top.
I wouldn’t recommend this pattern for beginners as the instructions don’t include as many detailed illustrations as some previous free pattern features. But, if you’ve got some more experience under your belt and are feeling a bit adventurous, this pattern would be an instant wardrobe staple in anyone’s closet.
While the YouTube tutorial for this pattern is in French, you might find it helpful to follow along!
Although the design elements look complicated, this pattern is a fairly straightforward make. The neckline is finished with a facing so you won’t have to fuss with bias binding for this project. A button closure on the back neckline and simple sleeve cuffs are simple elements that really elevate the look of this top.
